Holly Hunter is an American actress and producer well recognized for her high-quality performance in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards which included an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her acting career began with Broadway with a variety of Broadway as well as Off Broadway productions. Enthusiastic about acting from her school days she played Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. Mumps caused her to be blind and deaf in the one ear. However, she didn't let this to stop her from becoming an actor. In her early years, she took classes in drama at college and moved from Pittsburgh to New York City from Pittsburgh so that she could achieve her goals. Hunter was introduced to Beth Henley by chance in a lift. They wrote together Broadway Crimes of the Heart. The play was Hunter's first acting debut. After moving from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land films to play. A supporting role was securing for her in Swing Shift. She has since appeared in many shows and TV films in a long career that spans over three decades. Holly Hunter has a Hollywood Walk of Fame actress and was awarded the Women in Film Lucy Award.
